Alberta Recognizes Pancreatic Cancer as Presumptive Disease for Firefighters

Thursday, April 6, 2023The government of Alberta has announced the expansion of presumptive cancer coverage for firefighters, including pancreatic as one of the 20 diseases. This marks the seventh province in Canada to recognize pancreatic cancer as an occupational risk to firefighters, and will ensure these heroic individuals will receive the coverage they are entitled to. Our CEO, Michelle Capobianco explains the impact of this meaningful victory for our western Canadian firefighters.“We commend Alberta’s government for adding pancreatic cancer to the workers’ compensation presumption list for firefighters. This decision will provide much-needed support for firefighters and their families who are impacted by this devastating disease.”
